The Galp Scholarship, initially intended for the academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24, has been extended for the current academic year 2024-25.
This extension, made possible by the steadfast commitment and generosity of the GALP Foundation, provides a significant opportunity for Bachelor’s degree students and integrated Master’s students to complete their studies. The Foundation’s support for students who fled Ukraine during the Russian Federation’s invasion and found refuge in Portugal is genuinely commendable.
So far, more than half of the 24 scholarship recipients have completed their Master’s degrees, showcasing their resilience and determination.
All remaining students are expected to graduate by the end of the current academic year. They are seizing this unique opportunity to move forward despite the ongoing conflict, preparing to rebuild war-torn Ukraine or contribute to creating a better future in their communities.
The Galp Foundation fully funds this program with the unwavering support of a network of higher education institutions, including Minho University, Instituto Politécnico do Porto, Porto Business School, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, ISCTE, and Universidade Católica Portuguesa. These institutions collaborate as partners in the Nexus 3.0 initiative, ensuring that our combined efforts create the best conditions for students to bounce back and prepare for their future.
This scholarship program is an inspiring initiative that shows how the private sector can support the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda by addressing society’s most pressing challenges.
