why nexus 3.0

Nexus 3.0 is mainly focused on boosting opportunities for education, science, art and culture in contexts of fragility, conflict and violence.

our framework

Cycles of conflict and disasters are displacing millions, leaving people vulnerable for decades, and in some cases, for generations. Conflict resolution is a long-term venture, with conflicts now lasting on average more than 20 years. Exacerbating factors, such as extreme poverty, climate-driven shocks, rapid urbanization and a host of other insecurities and hazards, pose additional challenges to overburdened aid systems and to humanitarian responses.

of all human crises are now conflict-related.

In 2022, due to the Covid 19 pandemic and to progressively worsening conflicts and humanitarian crises, progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is in danger of going backwards without change in direction, several Reports show. This means that countries will fail to live up to their transformative promise of leaving no one behind which is a cornerstone of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Yet, the so-called “triple nexus approach” aims at achieving better, more effective and efficient results by promoting stronger collaboration and coordination among humanitarian, development and peace building actions and actors. This more integrated approach is underpinned by a common understanding of the needs to be addressed and the common outcomes to be accomplished. It requires a number of changes in both conceptual and practical terms that have to be implemented.

Developing the triple nexus approach in the broad field of delivering education, science, art and culture in contexts of fragility, conflict and violence might be a true “crisis modifier” that will help to tackle the systemic inequalities that trap people in a vicious circle of poverty, exposure to risk and lack of ability to cope and recover.

our mission

The newly “Nexus 3.0” NGO aims at contributing to explore further these critical issues and to open up new avenues for practical and conceptual innovation that brings change on the ground for people left behind.

Nexus 3.0 is mainly focused on boosting opportunities for education, science, art and culture in contexts of fragility, conflict and violence (FCV). But it also aims at contributing to raise awareness at all levels about the critical role played by education, science, art and culture to drive change and improve durable living conditions in FCV contexts. Furthermore, Nexus 3.0 seeks to act as a hub for informed debates on this topic, for policy advocacy and policy analysis that require hybrid intellectual practices and interdisciplinary approaches.
