We are immensely proud to share NeoLife AI, a project developed by our Afghan students Benazir Rostami and Yasaman.
NeoLife AI is a wearable infant wellness monitoring system designed for babies from birth to two years of age. Combining a lightweight wearable device with a mobile application, it monitors key physiological indicators — including heart rate, oxygen trends, movement and temperature — helping caregivers identify early warning signs while reducing the unnecessary stress caused by false alarms.
The project was awarded first place in the Poliempreende 2026 startup competition. This achievement qualified the team to represent the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) at the national competition in Portugal.
Currently in its prototype phase, NeoLife AI is seeking technical and clinical validation, new partnerships and expert mentorship to take the next steps towards real-world implementation.
For Benazir and Yasaman, this project represents much more than an academic achievement. It demonstrates what becomes possible when young women whose education has been threatened are given the opportunity to continue learning, develop their skills and transform ideas into solutions that can improve lives.
